A conversation with Prado, about invisible home technology and our shared vision

By Format & Prado

What happens when two brands connect through a mutual passion for minimalist design, technical precision, and timeless aesthetics? The result is a collaboration that feels both natural and groundbreaking. Prado, a Belgian specialist in ‘invisible home technology’, found the perfect partner in Format to bring their vision to life in the Netherlands. At Format’s new Amsterdam headquarters, everything comes together: lighting, sockets, and custom interiors, all seamlessly integrated. We spoke with co-founder Jikke and Prado’s Dutch sales manager Ibrahim about how this partnership began and why it works so well.

A UNITED VISION

Jikke: “From the very start, there was an immediate connection with Prado. We speak the same design language: minimalist, thoughtful, and built for lasting quality.” Prado originally began by designing integrated spotlights with ventilation. Elegant solutions to the often-unsightly white surface-mounted covers common in new builds. “They’re young and innovative, just like us, and their aesthetic fits perfectly with ours. When we moved to our new building in Amsterdam, one thing was clear: we wanted to work with Prado. They didn’t have a showroom in the Netherlands yet, so we seized the opportunity to be the first to showcase their products in this way.”

What truly makes this partnership special is the mutual trust and shared ambition. Ibrahim: “The collaboration stands out because we share the same values: timeless design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. What makes it even more valuable is the personal connection. We work as partners, but it feels like working with friends. Open communication and trust make all the difference.” Prado deliberately chooses partners with the right mentality, not necessarily the biggest names. “Format starts from a place of design quality, with attention to materials, rhythm, and space. Like us, they design for the long term, not for passing trends.”

SEAMLESS INTERGRATION

Today, the Format showroom in Amsterdam is a tangible reflection of the shared vision between Format and Prado. Prado’s lighting and electrical solutions are incorporated throughout the interiors, fully integrated into the custom designs. Clients and architects visit to experience how technology and design come together. Ibrahim: “The showroom we created together is a clear result of our collaboration: understated, thoughtful, and completely balanced. Here, clients and architects can see how our products seamlessly integrate into bespoke interiors.”

Our solutions disappear into the architecture but at the same time define the calm of a space.

SERENE YET FUNCTIONAL

What sets Prado apart is precisely what you don’t see. Jikke: “It’s rare to find a technical brand so focused on aesthetics. Their solutions don’t demand attention but create calm. That’s exactly the kind of detail that completes an interior.” This is where Prado and Format come together perfectly. Ibrahim: “Our innovations are designed to support the design, not to dominate it. They disappear into the architecture but define the peaceful atmosphere of a room.” Together, they create serene, functional spaces that feel right from the very first moment.

LOOKING AHEAD

Both brands are driven by a shared ambition to deepen integration. Ibrahim: “We hope to further translate our shared vision into projects where everything fits perfectly, from custom interiors and lighting to ventilation and sockets. All refined into one quiet, seamless total experience. By joining forces, we want to set a new standard: not a collection of separate products, but one whole that lasts for generations.”
